On Saturday, July 30, 2011 the Warren County Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2698 R63 in rural Warren County. When they arrived on scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was knocked down and upon further investigation, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office discovered the home owners could not be located. This prompted the Sheriff’s Office to request assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation on a missing persons report.

During an examination of the fire scene, fire investigators found one person deceased in the home. The “Person of Interest” was last seen near the Wood’s 2009 red Chevrolet Silverado pickup in Kansas City. The “Person of Interest” is described as a White Male in his late 40s to early 60s, 6’2”-6’6” tall, with a slender build and short, gray and white hair. Anyone with information about this person of interest and/or the disappearance and whereabouts of Kay Wood is asked to contact your local law enforcement agency.

There is an $8,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Special Agents with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies, continues to follow up on all leads in this case.
