MASON CITY – Law enforcement converged on the Southbridge Mall parking lot area Tuesday night after an emergency call about a male at the footbridge with a noose around his neck that appeared ready to jump.
According to reports, after 10 PM Tuesday, emergency responders, Mason City police and at least one Cerro Gordo deputy went to the scene immediately, located between the upper and lower parking lots at Southbridge Mall at 100 South Federal Avenue. A passer-by had called in after observing a male with a noose placed around his neck and appearing ready to jump from the bridge. The man was said to have removed the noose prior to emergency responders arriving and had left Mercy 5 East earlier Tuesday.
