Nitrogen liquid to be released today at Nestle Beverage plant in Waverly

WAVERLY – According to a public service announcement, there will be a release of nitrogen liquid from the Nestle Beverage Company between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM Wednesday afternoon. This will take place from a large stationary vertical tank on the east side of the plant towards the south end.

The Waverly Police Department said it had been advised there is no danger in the area “except to the person doing the actual release and this risk is very low”.  The temperature of the liquid nitrogen in the tank is 284 degrees below zero so a white cloud or fog will develop upon release. Police said there will also be a loud roar as the nitrogen is released.

The nitrogen release will take about 90 minutes.
