Women who stole from various Mason City businesses arrested

MASON CITY – Police worked to arrest three females who stole from various Mason City businesses in recent months.

According to police, on February 11, 2014 at about 10:10 PM, two males and two females selected merchandise from the shelves of Wal-Mart and left the store without paying. When confronted by store employees, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle. Police said that some of the merchandise was recovered and some was not. Total value of the merchandise stolen is around $573.00 by the group.

Police located and charged Tabatha Jones of Mason City and Mallorie Elaine Wolcott – who claims to live in Cedar Rapids – with 3rd Degree theft. Police know who the two males are but did not disclose their names. The males both have valid arrest warrants for other unrelated charges and police will probably be applying for warrants for 3rd Degree Theft over the next few days.

Tabatha Jones was brought to the Cerro Gordo County Jail on February 26th and posted $2,000 surety bond the next day. She has a court appearance set for March 12th.

Previously, Jones and a different female, Keri Ann Funk of Mason City, were arrested by Mason City police after a shoplifting incident that occurred at Kum & Go North on September 18, 2013 at 2:36 AM. The pair allegedly stole merchandise totaling $51.00 from the store. Funk was charged with 5th degree theft. Jones was charged with 3rd Degree Theft due to several prior theft convictions.

Funk plead guilty to fifth degree theft and is supposed to pay Iowa courts $420.39, including $1.92 in restitution and a $125.00 fine.

Jones plead guilty to fifth degree theft also.  She received seven days in jail.  She owes Iowa courts $534.60 in that case.
