Waldorf University to host The True Black History Museum

FOREST CITY – Waldorf University to host The True Black History Museum on Monday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, IA. in the Waldorf University Atrium. Also featured on this date will be a presentation by Fred Saffold III, CEO and Founder of The True Black History Museum, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.

The True Black History Museum is a traveling Black History exhibit with artifacts dating from the late 1700’s to the 21st century. The Museum was established to preserve the history of African-American people and to educate others of the many great contributions that African-Americans have made to mankind. The mission is to instill self-esteem and pride, and to increase knowledge, awareness, cultural sensitivity and understanding for the historic experience of African-Americans.

The collection takes you on a journey through the African-American experience, and is comprised of over 1000 authentic artifacts, with original documents from historic figures such as Booker T. Washington, Mary McLeod Bethune, George Washington Carver, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, Angela Davis, President Barack Obama, and many other great African-Americans.

The museum and speaker presentation are open and free to the public.

            You can take your trip down memory lane at The True Black History Museum if you choose, but it’s going to be a misleading lesson when you’re forced to re-enter our today. I wish it wasn’t so, we all do.
