AMES — Morgan Goodman had a hand in every Iowa State goal Sunday night as the Cyclones rolled past Kansas City, 4-0, in their 2026 home opener and Senior Night match at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
Iowa State improved to 2-0 on the season with the Aug. 16 victory, while Kansas City fell to 0-1.
Goodman turned in a five-point performance, assisting on Iowa State’s first three goals before scoring the fourth herself. Her three assists and one goal gave her the most points by a Cyclone in a single match since 2013.
The Cyclones controlled much of the action and finally broke through in the 26th minute. Fifth-year player Mia Sowders collected a cross from Izzy Kapanke and put it away for the first goal of her Iowa State career. Goodman also received an assist on the play.
Iowa State doubled its advantage late in the opening half. Goodman found freshman Aubrey Crawford in the 42nd minute, and Crawford scored the first goal of her collegiate career to send the Cyclones into halftime leading 2-0.
The Cyclones struck again almost immediately after the break.
Grace Luedde headed home a ball in the 48th minute off assists from Goodman and Breezie Brewer, giving Luedde her first career goal and Iowa State a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Goodman capped her big night in the 61st minute. Makenna Marshall set up Goodman, who lifted the ball over sliding Kansas City goalkeeper Anika Patton for her fifth career goal and Iowa State’s fourth of the night.
Four different Cyclones scored in the victory — Sowders, Crawford, Luedde and Goodman — while Kapanke and Marshall each recorded their first collegiate points with assists.
Iowa State finished with an 18-11 advantage in shots and put eight attempts on goal compared to three for Kansas City. The Cyclones collected six assists, their most in a game since 2024.
Goodman and Cassidy Corcione led Iowa State with three shots apiece.
Goalkeeper Eme McClenahan played the opening half and made two saves before senior Sara Gavagan took over after halftime. Gavagan made one save as the two combined to keep Kansas City off the scoreboard.
Patton made four saves for the Roos.
The four-goal performance was Iowa State’s highest-scoring match since its victory over Northern Iowa last season.
Iowa State will next travel down Interstate 35 to Des Moines to face Drake on Thursday, Aug. 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m., with the match available on ESPN+.
