SUMNER, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman earlier busted in Hampton for illegal drug possession caused a disturbance at a gas station and put her probationary status on the line.
The Bremer county sheriff’s office reports that on November 7, 2024, their deputies responded to a request for assistance from the Sumner, Iowa, police department at the Pronto gas station, located at 117 W 1st Street. Evidently, a local woman, 28-year-old Cassiopeia McNeal of Dumont, Iowa, was causing a disturbance so outlandish that at least two law enforcement agencies had to respond to the scene. After an investigation, McNeal was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct – loud or raucous noise, a simple misdemeanor.
Records show McNeal was evaluated and subjected to a substance /medical assessment at Prairie Ridge following her arrest, later in November. After a failed attempt to have the matter dismissed in court on December 3, McNeal requested a lawyer, and a non-jury trial was scheduled for February 18, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
McNeal (pictured at top) has been on probation since an incident in Hampton back on January 30, 2024, in which she was arrested by police for first-offense possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. A judge was lenient and put her on probation for a year in a deferred judgement, beginning in July. She was also ordered to pay $392.00 in court costs but so far not a dime has been paid.
