GREENE — Judy Lau, 84, of Greene, died Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Waverly Health Center, leaving behind memories of her sharp wit, independent spirit and one-of-a-kind personality.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 324 E. Traer Street in Greene.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Judy will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene following the service.
Judy was born September 16, 1941, in Allison, the daughter of Daniel and Marjorie Darby Miller.
After graduating from high school and marrying, Judy moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, where she worked in the banking industry. She returned to Greene in 2000 and had lived at the Clarksville Nursing Home since March 2023.
Judy was independent, observant, stubborn and witty. She was always prepared with a clever comeback or quick remark and never hesitated to let her personality shine.
She enjoyed playing bingo and became a familiar face at games held throughout nearby communities. When she was not at a bingo hall, Judy could often be found shopping from the comfort of home while watching QVC with her beloved cat nearby.
She was also a devoted Elvis Presley fan who enjoyed listening to his music and watching his movies.
Judy was truly one of a kind and lived life on her own terms until the very end.
She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Deb Abele-Uhlenhopp and her husband, Ron; Brad Uhlenhopp and his wife, Christy; Brian Uhlenhopp and his wife, Missy; Todd Murray and his wife, Carla; Joe Nelson and his wife, Tina; Toya Knapp and her husband, Jeremy; and Jeff Brandow and his wife, Kathy; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and her siblings, Jean Brandow, Janice Schwieger and JoAnne Uhlenhopp.
Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy may consider a memorial to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Judy’s name.
