River City Dames of Anarchy to donate portion of ticket sales to Humane Society of North Iowa

MASON CITY – North Iowa’s flat track roller derby team, the River City Dames of Anarchy will host their season opener at the North Iowa Fairgrounds this Saturday night against the Newton Rollin Rebels.  The event will also support the Humane Society of North Iowa, with 10% of total ticket sales being donated to the organization.

“We choose a different organization to donate to for each of our home events”, said DOA team member Callie Welch.  “Though we are a self-funding organization, our team felt it was important to show our support of other non-profit organizations in the community”, concluded Welch.

“We’re very excited to be included in such a fun and energizing event,” said Sybil Soukup, Executive Director of the Humane Society of North Iowa.  “They won’t want the opposing team to hear this,” Soukup said with a smile, “but the River City Dames of Anarchy are thoughtful, compassionate and have hearts of gold. We are grateful to be the beneficiaries of their generosity.”

The event will be held in the All Seasons Building at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.  Doors open at 6:00 pm; the bout will begin at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10.00 at the door or $8.00 in advance and available at the following sponsor locations:  Harley-Davidson of Mason City, the Willow Run Lounge, Wayne’s and Roller City.  Kids 12 and under are free.

10% of ticket sales will be donated to the Humane Society of North Iowa.  The Humane Society of North Iowa will be attending the event with adoptable shelter animals and will have an information booth with t-shirts for sale as well.

The Humane Society of North Iowa is a non-profit organization that serves a 9 county area in North Iowa and operates a no-kill rescue animal shelter in Mason City.  In the past 25 years, HSNI has found loving homes for over 7000 abandoned, displaced, and neglected animals.
