MASON CITY – Police say an armed, weed-toting, intoxicated Mason City man plowed into the back of a car stopped at a red light, causing destruction.
Mason City police tell NIT that a crash involving three vehicles took place on September 14, 2024. At 9:03 AM that morning, at the stoplight at Taft and 19th Street SW, all of three vehicles were eastbound. 58-year-old Jerry Hain (pictured at top) of Mason City was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 when he ran into the back of a vehicle stopped at the red light, pushing that vehicle into the vehicle ahead of it.
As a result of the incident, one passenger in the middle vehicle sustained minor injuries, but did not require transport to the hospital. Hain was arrested and charged with:
– OPERATING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE 1ST OFFENSE – SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR
– POSSESSION OR CARRYING OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE – SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR
– POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – MARIJUANA 1ST OFFENSE – SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR
– open container
– failure to stop in an assured clear distance
– failure to provide proof of insurance.
Hain was jailed and soon released. He now awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 4.
Allegedly, Jerry is a complete tool.
