ALGONA — Myrna Mary Teeter, 87, of Algona, died Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona, leaving behind a life defined by devotion to family, service to others and a welcoming spirit.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, at Grace Church in Algona. Visitation will continue for one hour before the funeral service Tuesday.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, at Grace Church. The service will also be livestreamed through the church.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in Algona.
Myrna was born October 1, 1938, the daughter of Melinda Mary Erdman and Virgil John Jennings. She graduated from Algona High School in 1956.
On November 10, 1956, Myrna married Merle LuVerne Teeter. She became a devoted wife and mother, raising six children and building a home where family, friends and visitors were always warmly received.
Caring for others remained an important part of Myrna’s life. She worked with consumers at Exceptional Opportunities Westside Apartments, offering assistance and compassion to those she served.
Myrna possessed a special gift for hospitality and enjoyed welcoming loved ones into her home for meals, tea, coffee and conversation. Her thoughtful nature helped create a place where people felt comfortable, valued and loved.
She also appreciated the beauty of God’s creation. Life on the farm gave Myrna the opportunity to garden, and she delighted in keeping flowers nearby, whether growing outside or arranged on her table.
In later years, Myrna enjoyed meals and activities at the Algona Senior Center, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and meeting her many friends for meals or coffee.
Her greatest joy remained her family. Myrna is survived by her six children, 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle; and her brother, Gary Jennings.
Memorials may be directed to Grace Church or Active Seniors of Algona in Myrna’s honor.
