POWESHIEK COUNTY – An Iowa dump truck driver lost control of his rig, rolling the vehicle into a ditch, leading to his ejection and death.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a one-vehicle accident took place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 in Poweshiek county, Iowa. At about 11:28 AM that day, a red 1996 Peterbilt dump truck driven by 52-year-old Christopher Phillip Hudnut of Logan, Iowa, was westbound in the 1600 block of Highway 85. The truck then had a tire failure, causing Hudnut to lose control and leave the roadway. The rig then went in a ditch, causing Hudnut to be ejected.
