DUMONT – On Monday, November 7th at 4:33pm, a fatal accident occurred on Highway 3, two miles west of Dumont.
According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, a Mason City man, identified as Robert Carl Wisman, age 30, driving a 2002 PT Cruiser, was fatally injured when he drifted across the center line and struck the side of a 1991 Peterbilt tractor trailer, driven by Kevin Edwin Barnett, age 42, of Kilkenny, Minnesota. He then struck the left duals of the trailer, being pulled by the Peterbilt.
Barnett was not injured.
Wisman died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City by a Sietsema Funeral car.
Both vehicles were towed by E & E towing of Hampton.
The accident remains under investigation.
