Failed brakes in Iowa woman’s Acura causes rural Cerro Gordo county crash, sending driver to Mercy

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – An Iowa woman was hurt in an auto crash in rural Cerro Gordo county.

On September 15, 2022, at 6:07 PM, hours the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to Interstate 35 near the 184 mile marker for a single vehicle collision with injury. Elizabeth Bundu, 58, of Johnston Iowa, was traveling south on Interstate 35 when another vehicle slowed in front of her 2010 Acura MDX. The Acura’s braking system failed, and Bundu swerved into the ditch to avoid striking the other vehicle.

Bundu sustained minor injuries and was transported to MercyOne North Iowa by ambulance for treatment.
