MASON CITY – Mason City police stopped a driver early this morning and took the suspect to jail for allegedly driving drunk and putting children in danger – and not the first time.
A traffic stop was conducted by Mason City police Thursday morning at 12:35 AM, April 18, 2024, at 13th Street NE and North Jersey Avenue. Police arrested 30-year-old Aleah Rae Harris (pictured at top) on the following charges:
– 726.6(8) – Child Endangerment
– 321J.2(2)(b) – OWI — 2nd Offense
– 321.284A – Open Container — Passenger (21 Years Old or Older)
Harris was booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail and remains there Thursday afternoon held on bond, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 26.
Back in 2019, Harris was arrested after lighting a blaze next to her house with her infant inside. She eventually pled guilty to child endangerment and reckless use of explosives and got jail time and $1,532.50 in court costs and fines.
