CHICAGO – A former record-setting Michigan wide receiver who is an announcer for the Big Ten Network, Braylon Edwards, isn’t sure his alma mater is better than the Iowa Hawkeyes and has been suspended from his job with the network.
The Big Ten Network issued a statement Monday, saying, “Effective as of Sunday, Sept. 2, Braylon Edwards has been suspended indefinitely from his role at the Big Ten Network due to a violation of the network’s social media guidelines.”
Edwards made some controversial tweets about the Michigan football team after its Saturday road game loss to Notre Dame, questioning the toughness of some players and calling the team “trash.” He later asked his Twitter followers if Michigan is better than Iowa, a perennial bowl team also mired in semi-mediocrity.
Edwards last played with the Jets back in 2013. He hold records at Michigan for touchdowns and receiving yards.
