Steve King: No more tax deductions for businesses who claim expenses for illegal aliens

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Employers of illegal aliens deduct as a business expense the wages and benefits paid to illegal alien workers – but not for long, if Iowa Congressman Steve King has his way.

“No employer should be rewarded with a tax deduction for illegal activity,” Steve King says.  He has introduced legislation called “New IDEA” tied to a tax cut bill that would end this practice.

On Monday, Steve King and 11 of his House colleagues sent a letter to Chairman Kevin Brady asking the Ways and Means Committee to include King’s HR 176- New IDEA (Illegal Deduction Elimination Act) into H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Congressman Steve King has also published an op-ed arguing for the inclusion of New IDEA in the tax reform legislation. That op-ed can be found here.

An analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies found that King’s legislation would raise more than a quarter of a Trillion ($254 billion) in revenue over ten years.

Be interested to know who passed this, make illegal activity profitable.
On the one hand Democratic fairness doctrine, on the other friends of big business Republicans.

Remember this. We need these people to do the jobs no one else will do. Look around and you will see these people are not out in the fields picking fruit. They are in our stores, schools, hospitals etc.

Who was it that said, illegals will not cost tax payers anything.

I have to agree with King n this one. Why would we allow a tax deduction on something illegal?
