Mason City firefighters train on new $1 million fire engine

MASON CITY – Firefighters in Mason City conducted training Tuesday on the $1 million 100-foot tower fire engine the fire department received last year.

Chief Bob Platts said fire personnel were conducting annual high angle rescue training on the big red fire engine and getting the newest firefighter on that shift comfortable with the equipment.

Firefighters were at the north driveway at the fire department headquarters Tuesday with various equipment, hoses and vehicles scattered about, conducting their training in preparation for any emergency they might face.

The tower fire engine arrived in Mason City in June of 2013 and cost $908,000.00 with the additional $92,000.00 used for equipment on the truck, Chief Platts said.
