by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery asked for volunteers to help set up a flag display for the Memorial Day program to be held Monday at 9:15 AM.

They got the help that they needed. Boys and girls, men and women of all ages were helping measure and design the flags Saturday afternoon.

Sometimes we get caught up in all the activities and events going on Band Festival weekend, that we forget that it is also Memorial Day weekend and what it’s all about. Remembering the loved ones that we lost and all those that came before us and paved the way to our way of life.

May god bless these people that help. I want to let them know they are not without notice! We thank you so much for what you do and what you have done!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to place flags for the Memorial Day celebration. We have many volunteers in Mason City who make our city flower beds, St. Joseph/Elmwood Cemetery, parks, churches and many other places and events happen…..thank you to all our volunteers….you are appreciated as we drive around Mason City and see the work that you have all done.
