Charles City man headed to prison as felony charges dismissed

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man is going to prison after pleading guilty to felony assault causing injury.

Barry Jerome Holden, age 29, plead guilty on January 13th, 2014 to felony D willful injury causing injury. He was sentenced to five years in prison and has been transported to the Iowa Medical Classification Center in Coralville. Holden also plead guilty to tampering with a witness. He must submit DNA samples to the state.

Charles City police filed the charges against Holden on September 23rd, 2013.

In another incident, Charles City police arrested Holden on July 5, 2013 after a call from a residence at the 2100 block of Clarkview Drive for a domestic assault. Holden was charged with felony B first degree burglary, felony C sexual abuse, and felony D assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. All these charges were dismissed without prejudice, which means the state could file them again. Holden had pleaded not guilty.
