North Iowa man faces several charges after fleeing cops

MASON CITY – A North Iowa man fled a traffic stop Thursday on the city’s North End and was arrested as other law enforcement intervened.

According to reports, Mason City police attempted a traffic stop of 30-year-old Colter Lee Ginther of Rockford on Thursday at about 12:32 PM near the 1300 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue.

Ginther fled the area on foot, leading to six officers becoming involved in the search for him.

At about the same time, a Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s deputy observed Ginther running from a  Mason City police officer towards where he was located, in the same vicinity.  The deputy was able to stop Ginther until Mason City police officers arrived and took control of him.

Ginther was charged with eluding a law enforcement vehicle, driving while suspended, interference with official acts, failure to prove insurance, and operating without a registration.

Ginther was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo County jail, where he is being held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Thank you, at least you waited to put North End in the article until after the title… (maybe a little sarcasm there)

October 24th-December 24th. Northend – 90 crime reports (51%), Southend- 86 crime reports (49%). So, for the first time since I’ve been doing this, the Northend actually has 4 more crimes or 2% higher than the South. So,Southside, you are 2% better than us. However, when you look a little closer the results change. Of the 90 reports on the NorthEnd, 37 crimes or 41% were in the downtown “cultural crescent”. So, you take the downtown bar laden commercial area out of the equation and our neighborhood area of the Northend had 33 less crimes than the Southend or restated… without the downtown area, the SouthEnd residential area had a 22% higher crime rate than the residential NorthEnd over the last 60 days.
