FRANKLIN COUNTY – A Belmond man has lost his life after an incident near Latimer.
According to a report, Jose Luis Martinez, 33, was westbound on Highway C25 just east of Lark Avenue in a 2005 Dodge Pickup when he crossed the center line and struck a bridge guard rail. Martinez then crossed the center line a second time and entered the westbound ditch and the truck proceeded to roll several times. The truck came to rest in a farm field. Martinez was ejected from the vehicle.
Martinez was not wearing a seat belt, the report stated.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Franlin County Sheriff’s Office, Latimer Fire and West Franklin EMS.
The accident remains under investigation.
