MASON CITY – The Mason City Newman boys basketball team beat Central Springs 56-37 Saturday evening at the North Iowa Conference/Corn Bowl Conference Challenge held at the NIACC gym.

The halftime score was 28-28, but the Knights came back out on the court ready to play. With three point shots, good defense and teamwork they were able to gain a big lead.

Coach Randy Fischels said after the game, “The purpose of this game is to win, but all the boys got to play because we had such a good lead.”

The Knights will take on Osage on Tuesday.

For the half-time entertainment the Newman Catholic High School Dance Team gave the crowd a little Christmas Spirit, wearing their Santa outfits. The Dance Team consisted of Freshmen: Elizabeth Henrich, Ellie Schmidt, Elyssa Wilson, Katie Lau, Annie Moore and Sophomores: Hannah Romig, Betsy Ball and Juniors: Meagan Thompson, Sara Tefft and Senior: Captain and Choreographer, Anna Henrich.
