Iowa DOT small equipment auction Sept. 8

AMES, Iowa – Aug. 23, 2012 – A public auction of state-owned equipment will be held by the Iowa Department of Transportation on its grounds in Ames, Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at 9 a.m.

Equipment for offices and shops, automotive supplies and many other items are included in the sale. The sale will be held in the auction building south of the Iowa DOT’s sign shop on South Fourth Street.

Office equipment to be sold includes copiers, typewriters, facsimile machines, printers, and other items. File cabinets, shelving units and chairs will also be sold.

Included in the shop equipment items are drills, generators, grinders, pumps, toolboxes and chests, cabinets, etc.

Automotive supplies in the sale include radios, truck cab fans, wheel weights, tires, and other items.

Also included in the sale are video and still camera equipment, projectors, projection systems, and much more.

Items for sale may be inspected at the sale site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, and from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

Payment for the items must be made the day of the sale by cash, cashier’s check or certified check. Personal or company checks will be accepted, if accompanied by satisfactory identification. Items may be removed from the Iowa DOT grounds after full payment has been made and buyers have receipts for their purchases. All items purchased must be removed by Friday, Sept. 14.
Sales tax will be collected. Dealers must provide tax-exemption numbers to be exempted from the tax. Prospective bidders who have permanent bid numbers are asked to bring those numbers to the auction.

Lynch Auction Co. of Boone will conduct the auction. Coffee, sandwiches and cold drinks will be available at the auction site.
