MASON CITY – Regan Banks is pretty proud of his accomplishments in building the North Iowa Youth Center (NIYC) over the years.
Banks and lots of other people celebrated the NIYC’s 14th year in the community on Saturday with games, displays, blow-up toys, food, music and entertainment at its location at 138 5th Street SW.
“We are having lots of fun here today, with the families and the kids,” Banks said. “We are just enjoying ourselves.”
World record holding juggler Mark Hanson of Kanawha was on hand to entertain and dazzle the crowd with his skills. It was said he tossed three tennis balls 490 times in one minute on Saturday. “I’m working on a new pattern,” Mark said. “I’ve gone over 500.” He will be going for a new official record in September.
The NIYC was founded in 1998 by Banks, in conjunction with the Mason City YMCA. The NIYC features computers, a pool table, carpet pool, foosball, dart game, 52″ TV with a Wii, Playstation 2, air hockey and more, and parents can sign thier children up for after school programs.
