Food Fun & Frank volunteers and donations still needed

Food Fun & Frank, a food sculpture tribute to Historic Park Inn hotel, is coming to South Bridge Mall Fri-Sat-Sun April27-28-29

This event is presented by Reflections Salon with assistance from food bank supporters Waggoner & Wineinger & Associates, North Iowa Builders Exchange and South Bridge Mall . The food sculpture recreation will be use 558 cases of canned goods, 1452 4 packs of toilet paper,115 cases of Mac & Cheese and 45 cases of Cheerios.

The food sculpture will benefit Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Last year Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank provided food and some very basic necessities to assit our less fortunate. That totaled slightly more than 150,00 meals to people living in a 9 county area of North Iowa.

Thanks to the support of Reflections Salon and Diamond Jo Casino they have 310 of the 558 cases of canned goods that we need.

First United Methodist Church in Nora Springs has come forward to help raise the roof for the Frank Lloyd Wright hotel replica sculpture project. They are providing all 1,452 four packs of the toilet paper for the roof.

At this time the food bank has 8 of the 115 cases of Mac and Cheese, and 10 of the 45 cases of Cheerios. We want everyone to know that they can contribute even if they don’t bring a full case. Just be sure that you sort your items to save us resorting time.

What the replica needs for the recreation of the Historic Park Inn:
• 15-ounce cans of fruit cocktail; 24 to a case.
• 15-ounce cans of applesauce; 24 to a case.
• 15.25-ounce cans of pears; 24 to a case.
• 14.5-ounce cans of peaches; 24 to a case.
• 15 ounce cans of mixed vegetables; 24 to a case.
• 15 ounce cans of tomato sauce; 24 to a case.
• 15 ounce cans of diced tomatoes; 24 to a case.
• 15-ounce cans of Spaghettios; 24 to a case.
• 15-ounce cans of pork and beans; 24 to a case.
• 8.9-ounce boxes of Cheerios.
• 7.25-ounce boxes of macaroni and cheese.

Anyone wishing to help with the purchase of cases of canned goods or Mac & Cheese or Cheerios can also make a cash contribution of $20 or more to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. project originator Ozzie Ohl will be placing an order on Tuesday to get additional canned goods, Mac & Cheese and Cheerios. Right now it appears that they will need 50 people to help. Volunteers will be needed from 4 pm-9 p.m Friday to help check in the donations and sort donated items into flats for use on Saturday. They will need most of the volunteers from 10 a.m to 5 p.m Saturday to start the actual construction of the sculpture. and from noon to approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday. .

Volunteers are needed to help check in donations, assemble the actual food sculpture, assist with tear down and taking donated food to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Final plans for taking the structure down haven’t been finalized yet. It might come down Sunday or could possibly stay up a few additional days before volunteers are needed to tear down and start he process of moving this to their store rooms in the Mohawk Square.
