Endorsements not fair (by Peter Children)

(Op-ed by Peter Children)

Well, it had to happen… those who think they are smarter, and somehow know more than you have rendered their decision as to just who you should vote for. Of course I am talking about the editorial staff at the Globe Gazette. Let me tell you something; just by working under that roof does in no way bestow upon you any super natural ability as to who will better serve the needs of this community. For years I have voiced my dissent of this practice by the Globe, I have pointed out to them in person no less the extreme unfairness of this sort of practice.

Matt Marquardt of NorthIowaToday.com believes that each reader should make up his or her own mind… and who among you could disagree with that? Do you really think you need the guidance of someone who is prejudiced to begin with? Lets understand something up front; I think each individual is entitled to their own opinion and that includes you. If your neighbor wants to tout who he likes to you, you can be the judge of his or her wisdom to do so… but when a news source that invades thousands of homes starts pontificating to you in hopes of swaying your vote to better comply to their wants… well that is an abomination.

I have long said, do not vote for yard signs, or newspaper ads, or billboards or television ads, vote for who you believe will serve your needs best, vote for who you think will listen to you when you have something to say that is meaningful to you. Vote for a candidate who you best relate to; it is your vote, your voice in your community, guard it and spend it wisely. Be certain to vote.
