MASON CITY – A Thornton woman was hurt Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash just outside Mason City.
According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, on March 31, 2025, at 6:43 AM, they were dispatched to the intersection of Mallard Avenue and 240th Street to investigate a two-vehicle accident. They say a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, operated by 22-year-old Laynee Johnson from Thornton, Iowa, was heading south on Mallard Avenue when she lost control and collided with a 2023 Honda Ridgeline driven by 62-year-old Kwame Chibambo, also from Thornton.
Johnson was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department.
