Allen Floyd McKenna, age 77, of Riceville, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home, Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Allen was born in Osage, IA on December 16, 1946, to Floyd and Lillian (Barenz) McKenna. He was the second of four children. He attended country school and graduated from Riceville High School. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He spent many years on the McKenna family farm.
Allen married Margaret Mayer on March 21, 1970. He was a proud father of his four children: Tammy, Kimberly, Loni and Brad.
Allen retired from Hormel Foods after 30 years. Following retirement, he enjoyed gardening and the social aspect of camping with his family. Allen enjoyed teaching himself how to build and fix computers. He was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything you put in front of him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret, of Riceville; children: Tammy (Shawn) Mauer of Riceville, Kimberly (Terry) Fritcher of Central City, IA, Loni (Greg) Swenson of Rose Creek, MN, and Brad Blake of LeRoy, MN; grandchildren: Carter and Madison Mauer, Emma (Kyle Marsh) and Ali Fritcher, McKayla (Alex Fiebelkorn) and Isaac Swenson; sisters Ruth (Roger) Stark and Dorothy (Jim) Saltou along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother and sister-in-law Glen and Bonnie McKenna, niece Lori Livingston and mother and father in-law LaVonne and Charles Mayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Saratoga Community Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, and again one hour prior to services on Wednesday morning at the church.
