MASON CITY – For the second time this season, a NIACC player has earned ICCAC softball player of the week honors.

NIACC freshman right-hander Macy Kellar was selected as the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the week of March 4-10. NIACC’s Brynnlin Kroymann was selected as the ICCAC player of the week Feb. 12-18.

Kellar shared the ICCAC Division II pitcher of week honor with DMACC sophomore right-hander Courtney Donahue.

Kellar is the first NIACC pitcher to win the ICCAC weekly award since Laken Lienhard was the pitcher of the week April 3-9, 2023.

Kellar (4-3) tossed a 3-hit shutout last Friday as the Trojans blanked Heartland CC 8-0 in six innings. The former Newman Catholic prep struck out nine and did not walk a batter.

This is the second shutout of Kellar’s freshman campaign, the first being Feb. 16 in a 2-0 win over Indian Hills where Kellar also had a career-best 11 strikeouts.

Kellar has 43 strikeouts with five walks and a 3.37 earned run average in 37 1/3 innings pitched. The 43 strikeouts is tied for third in the ICCAC.

NIACC (8-6) returns to action Wednesday with a pair of games in Overland Park, Kan. The Trojans face host Johnson County CC at 12:30 p.m. and Iowa Western at 3 p.m.
