Search for Mason City Fire Chief resumes after Anderson withdraws from consideration

Anderson
MASON CITY – The search for a new Mason City Fire Chief will have to resume after Jon Anderson withdrew from consideration.

According to Mason City Administrator Aaron Burnett, “Jon Anderson has elected to withdraw his name from consideration for the Fire Chief position. While I am disappointed, I respect Mr. Anderson’s decision. Unfortunately, this creates a difficult situation with the impending retirement of Interim Chief Janssen. City staff is working quickly to address the situation and review the city’s options. The civil service commission is most likely going to reconvene to establish a new list of potential candidates for the Fire Chief position.”

Mr. Anderson’s statement is below:

I have loved serving the citizens of Mason City for 21 years. I want to continue serving as a fire captain which is what I am prepared for and confident in.

The city administrator and city staff have been understanding of my situation and I feel badly for letting them down from my commitment.

Going forward, prospective chief candidates should know there is a great support system waiting for you at city hall, a positive political environment to work in, and a tremendous group of firefighters to work with.

Sincerely, Jon Anderson

I heard Jon does not have any confidence in Bill, John and Paul and the rest of our council and the new administrator is included as well.

Wise man! He obviously knows with whom he would a puppet to! Quietly ride your time out Jon…..and say goodbye!

Well I feel there has to be a lack of confidence in our city leadership as to why people like Mr. Anderson would not take this job. He knows his future was in jeopardy No different when the police chief wanted to jump ship, Something is going on up there in that city hall building.

What a stupid thing to say! If you knew Jon Anderson you sure as hell wouldn’t say that to his face! He has been serving honorably and with distinction for over 21 years. He has every right to either accept or decline the offer and has absolutely nothing to prove to anyone. He is extremely well-liked and respected by his subordinates, peers and superiors alike. If anybody is a pussy it is some nameless, faceless keyboard tough guy hiding behind the name anonymous!

Very well said Peter Bieber! I agree 100 percent with you.

Thank you Peter Bieber Good luck Mr. Anderson

Could it be the one and only anonymous Mike, Funk?

no

How can you be sure?
