MASON CITY – On Tuesday Patricia Besler, of Mason City, was sentenced to three years of probation after plea bargaining to three of six possessions with intent to deliver charges. In exchange the other three charges were dismissed per court with costs to Patricia Besler.
Besler had been arrested along with fourteen other defendants in July of this year as part of an investigation by the North Iowa Drug Task Force.
Besler has remained in the custody of the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department since she was arrested and charged with seven counts of possession with intent to deliver, a class C felony, on July 28th. The charge stems from Besler’s delivery of oxycontin, xanax, lortab and dillaudid from August to October 2010.
Court records show Besler entered a voluntary negotiated guilty plea on September 12th, 2011. On Tuesday, November 9th, Besler was sentenced in Cerro Gordo County District Court by Judge James Drew to a ten year suspended prison sentence, and three years of probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections. Judge James Drew also suspended the minimum $1000 fine in each case, ordering Besler to pay only court costs and a $125 surcharge in all six cases.
Patricia Besler has since been released from the Cerro Gordo County jail.
