Toddler mauled to death by pack of 7 pit bulls

PEMBROKE, Ga., March 29 (UPI) — A toddler in Georgia’s Bryan County was mauled to death by a pack of seven dogs in her back yard, officials said.

The incident happened Wednesday evening, the Savannah Morning News reported.

County Deputy Sheriff James Beatty said his office received a report at 6:21 p.m. from the girl’s grandmother, who said she looked out her window and saw the attack happen.

The grandmother said she rushed outside with other people to pull the dogs — all pit bulls or pit bull mixes — off the child, but it was too late.

“When we got here and spoke to EMS [Emergency Medical Services], they told us that when they got here, she was already cold. There was nothing they could do,” Beatty said.

How the girl, who would have been 2 in June, got into the back yard was still unknown. Beatty said her 12-year-old brother may have brought her out to play and accidentally left her outside alone, or she may have gone out through the doggy door.

The seven dogs involved in the attack, which lived at the girl’s house, were euthanized at the scene by Bryan County Animal Control. Two other dogs at the residence, which were not pit bulls and were not involved in the attack, were spared.

“All the dogs had access to the house, nine dogs in all,” Sheriff Clyde Smith said. “She habitually played with dogs, all of them. But they drug her all over the yard. Something turned them on her. We don’t know what.”

Smith said the girl’s body has been transferred to a crime lab for an autopsy.

“The investigation is continuing,” Smith said.

Where’s all the Pit Bull lovers jumping to their defense here???? Come on, they’re loveable pets! It’s all how you raise them right!?

They should all be rounded up and Euthanized. Bans and Confiscations….PAPERS PLEASE. Where’s Obama when you need him!

@Matt-and not a sound was heard. Hard to defend something like this.

I want to know more about this family and the situation before I jump in to defend anyone in this case. I do question why they had 9 of them. I still say that most pit bulls are wonderful pets, but I would not have that many of them together. Unless you are a dog whisperer, it’s hard to keep a pack of that many dogs under control and from fighting among themselves.

From the furthermore, regardless of good being and dealing with any rig, ultimately this simple to grasp the incident inside the place you have to do just about any help handling; yet trained on how previous you are yet exercising, with all the system for your caravan it is just a specially excessive workout. motor unit movers

This story speaks for itself.

Time to push for an outright ban on pit bulls.

The family even said the child had laid on them while they were in the house. It seems like they can just turn any moment and get dangerous.

This is why when people have them in there homes and I have my children I will not let them go with me when I visit. I don’t trust them if you want them around your famy that is your right but I will not let mine be around them.

Let’s see all you Pit Bull lovers make excuses again. These dogs are dangerous and need to be banned.

Here we go again folks !! Why is it always friggin pit bulls ????

@Just the Facts-Because the breed is dangerous. They are bred to fight and kill and it is in their D.N.A. Yes, you might get one some times that is a loving house pet but when something turns them loose they will kill and most of the time it is a child or woman because they are smaller. No matter what people say the facts are there, it is a dangerous breed. Other dogs may bite but they mostly do not kill.
