ALLISON — Lois Margaret North, 95, of Allison, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her home while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.
Family funeral services will be scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Allison Park Board or Cedar Valley Hospice. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Allison is caring for Lois and her family.
Lois was born February 10, 1931, in Minden, Nevada, to William and Ada Lange. Her parents were ranchers in Nevada’s Carson Valley.
She married George North on October 29, 1954, at the United Methodist Church in Reno, Nevada. The couple shared 71 years of marriage.
After completing a secretarial program, Lois worked at an insurance office. She later served as an administrative assistant at the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa while George attended dental school. Following the couple’s move to Allison, Lois dedicated herself to keeping the family home running smoothly.
Lois was a longtime member of Allison Congregational Church. She served on the church’s funeral committee, delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered in other community roles.
She enjoyed exercising outdoors, dining out, attending plays and keeping her weekly hair appointments. She also had a fondness for chocolate and animals of every kind.
Lois is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Renee (Jon) McWilliams; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Hart and Taylor (Cassidy) McWilliams; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kara.
The family expressed its appreciation to the Cedar Valley Hospice staff and the caregivers who provided Lois with love and support.
