MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo County Auditor Adam Wedmore announced this morning that he is seeking re-election to office in the 20204 elections.
According to his statement, January 2, 2024:
I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election as Cerro Gordo County Auditor. It has been an honor serving and I am eager to continue the work that we do for the residents of the county. I am committed to ensuring that the Cerro Gordo County Auditor’s Office continues to exceed expectations.
During my time in office I have worked to implement efficiencies, ensure compliance with laws, and build resiliency. I have led changes to budget administration and property tax calculation caused by legislation as well as introduce improvements to drainage district management, payroll processing, and claim management. I’m also proud of the work we have accomplished to strengthen the integrity of our election process to ensure fair and secure elections.
My dedication to Cerro Gordo County is unwavering and I ask for your support as I seek re-election as Auditor.
Wedmore, a Democrat from Rockwell, first sought to become the next Auditor of Cerro Gordo county after the resignation of Riley Dirksen back in August of 2018 so that he could play video games more often. Voters in Cerro Gordo county elected Dirksen, a Democrat, as the county’s new auditor in an April 10, 2018 special election; he ran unopposed. The position became vacant when former long-time Cerro Gordo County Auditor Ken Kline was hired in January of 2018 to serve as Iowa’s Deputy Commissioner of Elections. Wedmore then sought and won re-election in 2020.
Iowa’s county auditors hold office for terms of four years.
