Judy A. Craven, 88, of Mason City, Iowa passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2023 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Judy was born on January 6th, 1935 in Mason City, Iowa to Don and Sis (Hall) Craven. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School among the class of 1953. Judy worked at the First National Bank as an elevator attendant before moving to Burlington, New Jersey in 1959 where she worked in a long term care facility. She moved back to Mason City in 1968 and worked as a dietary aide at Good Shepherd Health Center.
Judy was a lifelong member of St Joseph Catholic Church and an active member of the Epiphany Parish community where she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards others. Judy lived a life dedicated to family and faith.
Judy loved rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and was especially a fan of the basketball team. She also loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Minnesota Vikings, although she always had a soft spot for Aaron Rodgers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Sis Craven; her brother Jay “Pete” Craven; and brother in law, Allan Ertl.
Judy is survived by her sister Susan Ertl; her sister-in-law Mary Craven; nieces and nephew, Carol (Bill) Meyers, Mary (Bruce) Lammers, Teresa (Scott) Burgmeier, Lori Long, Jay (Molly) Steffen, and Lisa (Austin Johnson) Craven; as well several great and great great nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City with Rev. Ben Valentine of Epiphany Parish officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Judy’s name directly to Epiphany Parish or a charity of your choice.
Judy’s family would like to thank Good Shepherd and MercyOne North Iowa Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Judy during the final chapter of her life.
