Eileen C. West, 74, of Mason City, died on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Heritage Care & Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 15.

Eileen C. West, 74, of Mason City, died on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Heritage Care & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave with Pastor Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Inurnment will be held in St. James Cemetery, Forest City.

Eileen Cecelia West was born in Estherville, Iowa on December 25, 1948, to parents Donald and Vera (Walterman) Widen. She was baptized at St.Mary’s Catholic Church in Corwith, IA, and had First Communion at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, IA. Eileen attended most of her schooling in Thompson but graduated from Forest City High School in 1966. She then attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City graduating in 1968. In June of that year, she was united in marriage to Jon C. Flo. With this union, the couple had two children, Scott and April.

Eileen worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. Eileen enjoyed filling out crossword puzzles in the Globe Gazette. She had a great love for her four cats over the course of her adulthood and enjoyed spending time at the North Iowa Humane Society petting the cats.

Eileen is survived by her children, Scott (Carolyn) Flo of Thompson, IA; April (Jason) Dodd of Manly, IA; grandchildren, James Burke, Cassandra Burke, Jacob (Angel) Burke, Thomas (Brittney Mitthun) Flo, Patrick Flo, Mackensie (Clay) Pierce, Matthew (Lexi Conway) Dodd; brothers Jerry (Sandy) Widen, Kenny (Tammy) Widen; one great grand-daughter Callie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Vera; and one grandson John Burke.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the North Iowa Humane Society.
