BURLINGTON, IOWA – An Iowa middle school basketball game spiraled into a violent attack when a parent could not handle a ref’s calls, leading to injuries, serious charges and an arrest.
On December 13, 2024, at approximately 6:25 PM, officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to Edward Stone Middle School regarding a parent at a basket ball game who assaulted a referee and threatened a second referee during a basketball game.
Prior to officers arriving on scene, the parent fled the scene. The referee obtained minor injuries to his face.
During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect as Urban Morris (pictured at top) of Burlington.
On December 17, 2024, officers later obtained an arrest warrant for Morris for the following charges:
– Assault (Serious Misdemeanor)
– Assault (Simple Misdemeanor)
– Disorderly Conduct (Simple Misdemeanor)
– Two Counts of Harassment 1st Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
Urban Morris turned himself into the Des Moines County Jail and was booked for the charges stated above.
