Joanne Elizabeth Short, was born on February 23, 1938, in Estherville, Iowa to Roland and Gladys (Amdahl) Schroeck. She passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 86.
Joanne graduated from Estherville High School. She worked various jobs in the Estherville area, including Keglers, the credit union, bakery, hospital, and the Estherville Creamery. She later moved to Des Moines and worked for a credit card processing company. She was united in marriage to Dudley Short on April 5, 2003, in Estherville. The couple made their home in Estherville.
Joanne was a past member of Estherville Lutheran Church and a current member of Grandview Baptist Church of Estherville.
Joanne is survived by her brother Charles (Marilyn) Schroeck of Arnold’s Park and her nieces and nephew, Sandra (Rob) Hanning, Jody (Dave) Vogt, Duke Hungerford and great-niece and nephews, Madison Vogt, Jacob Vogt, and Jace Hungerford.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dudley Short, her sisters Janice Schroeck and Carol (Larry) Hansen, and her niece, Dawn Hungerford.
