Ames Police, Fire, and EMS responded this afternoon to the report of a man missing from a group inner tubing south along the Skunk River near Carr Park. At approximately 2:45 PM, a caller reported an adult male had become separated from his inner tube and could not be located.

Ames Public Safety officials remind residents that several days of rain have created high water, swift currents, and murky water conditions. “These are not good conditions for recreational water use,” said Sergeant Christine Crippen, Ames Police Department. “The water levels are very high, and high water can cover things like obstacles, debris, and tree limbs that can entrap a person. For your own safety, we recommend everyone stay out of the rivers until the waters recede.”
