Opinion by Peter Children –
There is a political axiom going around that reminds me of our mayor, Eric Bookmeyer. Every time I run across it I think of him and his minions. Here it is;
“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media… along with the Chamber of Commerce which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.”
Someone commented on this site a short while ago that there were people running tape measures around the parking lot west of City Hall. Are we to believe that a new hotel is going up on that site… is that it? Let me know when the mirrors go up and they turn on the smoke machine. There is planned an ice arena, one of the mayor’s wet dreams, that is going into the Southbridge Mall. OK works for me. I also heard that there is some kind of Voodoo financing that will take place. I think it can happen, I mean the Voodoo part. My people came from a mountain village in Montenegro, I went there more than once. When these people got pissed, really pissed they would dry out grape leaves, put them into a bowl and toss in your picture and set the bowl on fire. Heavy stuff… serious too; maybe I’ll send a picture of Eric to the village. It would be better than syringe in the arm, and more effective. That’s just my opinion of course.

Perhaps we need Pappa Shongo to counter the voodoo!
should have put a money maker in the whole mall, the casino that was voted down, but then we don’t want laptops for all students, college money for all graduating seniors and more. ever notice when the worth county group pays out the money from the casino, nothing in mason city gets a dime, yet mason cityans spend it at the casino.
Looks like a non starter op ed but ELVIS sure bought into it.
I think they have found some more VOODO financing with their latest scam by selling insurance to the public. That is not what our city government is for. Impeach them all.
They should be made to take this issue to a vote before they are allowed to spend one penny of taxpayer’s money. That includes T.I.F. They won’t do that because they know it will be voted down just like the last time.
Right! Where is our representation? They don’t get public approval on anything anymore, thet just do it. Usually you don’t hear about it until it is a done deal. That goes for our school board too… $50 million plus for high school remodel and now the want more! And NO NEW POOL!
