Does this person look familiar? He was on another person’s property looking into a garage.

The following information is from a Mason City man who is seeking help catching burglars that are plaguing his neighborhood, located near the 100 block of 6th Street SW.  If you have any information that can be of use in this case, please call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

——

At about 6 AM Sunday morning, I awoke to the sound of a loud pickup truck (possibly diesel) nearby. I looked out my window to see a man loading a bicycle into the truck.  It was parked, running, with the lights off.  The truck sped off to the next block. The truck is older, dark colored (possibly black), with some sort of silver flame or decoration on the side.

Recently, I have noticed many burglaries in my neighborhood, so I decided to go out and see what they were doing.  As I went up to take a picture, they sped off. I got a blurry picture of the truck.

In addition, I have a security camera in my garage. The security camera captured pictures of someone on a bicycle looking into my garage. I believe the two are working together. One on a bicycle stealing stuff, one driving the getaway truck.

I was in contact with the MCPD during this encounter. I also forwarded the pictures to them. Hopefully, these picture will be useful in the capture of these criminals.

I am certain I saw that truck on 14th NW last week. I will certainly keep an eye out for it now as I had all of my tools stolen from my garage.

It’s a rental property. We have had someone come out to fix the garage door only to have it come off the tracks and get stuck again and again. When it comes off the tracks the door gets stuck and it’s a huge pita to get it back on the tracks. We don’t have items of much value out there, mainly old garden tools, fishing poles, kids yard toys, hockey sticks…etc. So, we keep it open most of the time.

The numbers on the license plates look like they’re 965. Can’t the police run these numbers and look for matching vehicles?

I’m sure I saw this same truck in my neighborhood (behind Hy-Vee West) on Saturday. It was an older black pickup and the back was loaded with bikes, grills, etc. Sure wish I could have gotten the license number but I only saw the truck from the side as it passed in front of me. Definitely suspicious.
