
MASON CITY – Shots were fired at two Mason City residences Tuesday while folks were inside, police say, leading to an investigation.
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Mason City Police responded to two shooting incidents. The first occurred in the 800 block of 15th Street SE at approximately 8:22 p.m. In this incident, a single family residential structure was struck by a single round fired from a handgun. The residents were home. No one was injured in the shooting.
Then, at approximately 9:02 p.m. MCPD officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of South Jefferson Avenue. A single family residential structure was struck by a single round fired from a handgun. The residents were home. No one was injured in the shooting.
It is unknown at this time if these shooting incidents are related. Anyone with information about these incidents should contact MCPD at 641-421-3636.
“We would also ask residents in these areas to check their video security systems for any images or video that may have been captured in either location during either time period,” Chief Jeff BrinKley said. “If you have images or video, please call in so we can review it.”
