FORT DODGE – A Fort Dodge credit union was robbed Monday and a man is behind bars facing a number of felony charges after cops nabbed him at the scene.
Shortly after 9:30 A.M. on Monday, March 2nd, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call regarding a bank robbery at the Green State Credit Union located at 1207 Central Avenue in Fort Dodge. Information given at that time indicated that a male entered the bank and displayed a knife. The caller was able to provide law enforcement with a detailed description of the male after he had left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers were in the area at the time the call was dispatched and almost immediately located a male matching the description given just outside of the credit union. It was determined that this male was responsible for the robbery and he was transported to the Law Enforcement Center. Investigators remained on scene gathering witness statements and other evidence in relation to the incident.
As a result of the investigation, 29‐year‐old Ted Hammersley of Fort Dodge, was arrested and charged with the following:
* Robbery in the First Degree – B Felony
* Going Armed with Intent – D Felony
* Assault while Participating in a Felony – D Felony
* Carry Weapons – Aggravated Misdemeanor
Hammersley is currently being held in the Webster County Jail. His initial appearance is scheduled for March 3rd at 9:00 A.M. in Webster County Magistrate Court.
