Iowa loses top tackler to knee injury in practice

DES MOINES – University of Iowa safety Brandon Snyder suffered a torn ACL during spring practice Thursday and will be out of action indefinitely. He is expected to undergo surgery in the next week.

Snyder is a 6-foot-1, 214-pound junior from Larchwood, Iowa, where he attended West Lyon High School. Snyder started all 13 games in 2016, ranking third on the team with 85 total tackles. He shared the team lead with three interceptions and led the Hawkeyes with three forced fumbles. He also tied for the team lead with two recovered fumbles.

The Hawkeyes conclude spring practice with the spring game in Kinnick Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 21.
