MASON CITY – A wanted man a who police apprehended after he was spotted riding an ATV in the downtown area – allegedly in possession of the dangerous drug meth, along with a large sword and marijuana – was caught by police and taken to jail.
Lucas Lloyd Heilskov, age 33, was caught by police on the afternoon of November 21 at the 400 block of South Illinois Avenue. He had been wanted for a week on warrants connected to his arrest back in August, when a Mason City police officer spotted him riding an ATV after midnight down a city street with no headlights on and then ride through Central Park. Heilskov apparently saw the officer coming to intercept and turned off the ATV and dismounted. The officer approached the driver who was identified as 33-year-old Lucas Heilskov. He was found in possession of suspected meth, marijuana, and a large sword. He later pleaded not guilty after he was assigned a public defender.
Currently, Heilskov remains behind bars, held on bond as he awaits a December 2 court date. He is facing a number of other charges, including trespass causing damage, driving while barred (at least 2 counts), criminal mischief, drug possession, and more.
