Police sent to hotel to deal with intoxicated man who got violent

MASON CITY – Police were called to a Mason City hotel to deal with an intoxicated man who then got violent.

The incident took place early on the morning of November 22, when Mason City police were called to the Days Inn hotel, 2301 4th Street SW, at about 1:34 AM, for a report of an intoxicated subject. Officers then encountered a man they have dealt with before, 20-year-old Darrian Troy Moorehead. Apparently, Moorehead was intoxicated and had damaged property at the hotel, and did not go quietly as officers attempted to take him into custody.

Once he was arrested, Moorehead was charged with criminal mischief for damages not exceeding $500, public intoxication and assault on a peace officer. He was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail and held on $1,000 bond as he awaits a court hearing set for December 2.

Moorehead was charged with fifth-degree theft by Mason City police back in August and later pled guilty in September. He was ordered to pay $320.00 in fines and court fees.
