MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore right-hander Dan Loats was selected as the ICCAC pitcher of the week for the week of April 4-10.

Loats gave up one run on three hits and struck out a career-high 12 batters in NIACC’s a complete-game 8-1 victory over Kirkwood on April 9.

Loats improved his 2016 record to 6-1 and picked up his 10th career win and moved into a tie for fifth place on NIACC’s career wins list. He also is tied for fifth on the school’s career strikeout list with 103.

Loats has a 3.09 earned run average with 47 strikeouts and 18 walks.

Loats is the second NIACC pitcher to earn the ICCAC pitcher of the week award. Freshman Derek Lieurance won the award for the week of Feb. 15-21. Also, sophomore Robbie Glendinning was the co-ICCAC player of the week for the week of March 28-April 3.

NIACC (21-9 overall, 8-4 in the ICCAC) returns to action today in a nonconference doubleheader at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn. The Trojans play a four-game ICCAC series at Southwestern on Saturday and Sunday.
