NORA SPRINGS, IOWA – Law enforcement wrote a ticket Thursday evening against the local juice bar owner for a liquor violation.
Dale Peterson confirms to NIT that Thursday evening, Nora Springs police wrote him a ticket for violation of Iowa code 123.46, section 2. According to that law, “A person shall not use or consume alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer upon the public streets or highways. A person shall not use or consume alcoholic liquor in any public place except premises covered by a liquor control license.” This is a misdemeanor violation.
Mr. Peterson tells NIT that police claim a young lady “brought a bottle of liquor” inside The Pole Barn, an adult-themed “performing arts theatre” that most people just call a juice bar. Beer and wine are allowed inside.
However, he says “they never found the bottle” of booze.
“I never saw it, and we check everyone that comes in,” he explained. “They (the police) claim she had it, but it was never found.”
Nora Springs police were unable to accept a call early Friday afternoon.
To make matters more complicated for Mr. Peterson, he says city building inspectors and the local fire inspector came to The Pole Barn earlier Thursday and had some news for him.
“They say I gotta install a sprinkler system,” he says. “That’s a lot of money right there.”
When asked if he feels as if he is being singled-out or picked on, Mr. Peterson said “Well sure I do. It feels that way. If they could just come in and see how this place is operated, and see how safe it is. People just want to have fun, and we let them do that. We’re not hurting anyone here.”
Mr. Peterson is due for a court hearing March 25.
He tells NIT that The Pole Barn will feature at least 7 performers this evening.

To should parents be able to spell. It was late, and I accidentally put an extra letter, give me a break, if all you have to reply is about a small spelling error, you truly must not have a legitimate opinion to add to the conversation.
WAKE UP STUPID, last i knew theres really not much liability when you enforce Iowa codes.!!! Theres lots of dumb people in this world !!!
When Mr Pederson does close, maybe Kevin can get him a job teaching in Charles City
Peterson’s own record speaks for itself: his establishments have not made any kind of positive contribution to the towns in which he’s been located over the years.
In 1996, he was convicted of using a minor in a sex performance at Cityside Entertainment Center in Montevideo, Minn.
In 2003, Peterson was convicted of promoting prostitution at an establishment he operated in Meeker County, Minn.
In 2008, the City Council in Florence, Minn Peterson operated a juice bar that the police ordered closed.
So he said he moved into the bar, called it his residence and had guests over every Friday and Saturday night who paid a $10 lodging fee.
That operation was also shut down.
Nora springs Better have good liability insurance. There setting themselves up for a lawsuit.
Looks like you are setting yourself up for a remedial English class. Its THEY’RE.
Good move. The City Council finally figured something out.
Fire department figured it out!
Small town people do not have small minds, but we do have immense respect for our towns, which can not always be said for bigger towns. All of you that say this business should be left alone, why don’t you invite him to open in your town, right next to your home, where your children are? Do not be hypocritical as there isn’t a descent parent who would want this around their children.
Amen.
Descent parents probably would want this around their children but decent parents would not. You should be careful your kids don’t grow up to be horrors.
So, do all the older buildings/businesses have up the code sprinkler systems? Fair is fair…
The sprinkler system is only needed if the other businesses are theaters. To my knowledge Nora Springs has no other theaters. Check the Iowa Code. Dale is the one who called it a theater not the city!
Give the guy a break!
The sprinkler system is needed because he is calling it a “theater “. Iowa Code.
Bunch of bs. Dale needs a good attorney!!!
F.U. Lee Lagios will take the case.
Last I knew he had a good attorney and look where that got him. Shutdown/ kicked out of at least 4 locations.
When it’s a change of occupancy, the codes can change. If it would have been a juice bar before, it wouldn’t be required. But since this is a new type of business, that’s just state code.
How stupid of the City and fire inspector to pull a stunt like this. Does all the other business’s in downtown Nora Springs have sprinkler systems I bet not. Give this dude the ammo to sue the City for trying to enforce rules just on him.If you don’t like this type of establishment don’t patronize it.
Agreed. People should just mind their own business. It is a small town. Don’t throw rocks.
typical small town–small minds–if you don’t live the perfect life like they do you are forced out some how!
Dont let the door hit you in the ass Dale when you leave !! Hope you have a safe trip home to Minnesota you pervert !! Im sure they will be happy to have you back !!! Take your partner Kevin back with you. The Charles City schools would love that .
The building needs a lot of updates.
I’m just wondering why all of a sudden the building needs a sprinkler system. Nobody will ever rent/buy that building if that’s the case. Maybe adding a wet t shirt area, can take the place of the sprinkler system. government at it’s finest.
Crazy Nora Springs residents. Getting all upset when a sex offender slides into town and opens a sexually explicit business across the street from their public library. What are they thinking?
Sprinkler systems should be a must, want to keep the public safe (like the bouncer said).
Thats your pukey government at work. Screw the small business owner/frame him/lie – anything to show him the elites/government- no matter how small are the king of their domain – Sort of gang raped you did’nt they? Not to worry they have a dozen more departments they can call in – there were only 4000 new laws put on the books last year. Adios Amigo -time to go south. Go to Mason City and set up shop out by that new packing plant – hell the illegals will love you.
