DES MOINES – An Iowa man is accused of using fraud and deception as he tried to claim a $16 million lottery ticket.
Eddie Raymond Tipton, age 51 of Norwalk, Iowa, has been charged with two counts of class D felony fraud. DCI Agents arrested Mr. Tipton Thursday afternoon. He was held in the Polk County Jail until he posted a $10,000 cash-only bond.
Tipton is reportedly the Director of Information Security for the Multi-State Lottery Association, which works with the Iowa Lottery, and he is not supposed to play the lottery. He allegedly worked with others to redeem a lottery ticket said to be worth $16 million. The Hot Lotto ticket in question was bought at a Des Moines gas station in 2010.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), along with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office filed the charges.
The investigation is on-going by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office with cooperation from the Iowa Lottery.

This dude was probably making about 75k a year and tried to make a million more. What a dumbass. Have someone buy the ticket for you and split it with them.
